The founder of the Company, Christos Papadimitriou, started trading and exporting local products of Kalamata, like currants, olive oil and dried figs, in 1939. In the 50's he expands to large markets in Europe and strengthens the brand name by focusing on the Corinthian currant, where he has gained expertise. His son Kostas, with studies in oenology, joins the Company in 1971, and develops the Company further by establishing its position as the second currant trader globally. It is at this point that he begins designing a new product, the balsamic vinegar, and introduces it to the Greek market, a market where balsamic vinegars are unfamiliar. The product soon gains recognition and popularity and becomes the No1 Balsamic vinegar in sales in Greece. With a range of flavors and of a line with cream texture, the product "Kalamata Papadimitriou Balsamic Vinegar" remains market leader to this day.
