The Kalamata Famous "Pasteli", Sesame Seed Bar by Lampou Bros, is made with just honey and sesame without preservatives. Since 1950 the same traditional recipe is used and the sesame bars are made and packaged under the highest safety food quality standards, certified by international organizations. Only natural honey and specific varieties of sesame are used. Sesame seeds bars are considered an excellent source of energy for people with demanding activities, both physical and mental. Great for a quick snack at work or at school.
Confectionery business "Lampou Brothers" started in 1950, when the 6 brothers Lampou decided to leave their Messinian village and move to the capital, Kalamata, to look for a better life after the harsh years of the civil war that followed WWII. They open a pastry shop and in 1960 they buy off a 100-year old family-industry that was making the traditional sesame/honey bar, "pasteli". They continue to produce the same snack on the same 100-year old counter, but they decide to standardize the process and package the product for distribution. A long tradition is born. Today wherever you go in Kalamata you will discover that the Company, apart from continuing to making one of the most successful products, has been a pastry school and an endorsement support for the local society.
