Originating from the Middle East, the "Soujuk" is a spiced and salty beef sausage with a high fat content, that is dried for at least two to three weeks before packaged. It is very popular in Turkey, Armenia and Lebanon, and a powerful ingredient of many middle-eastern recipes. Although it can be consumed once opened, it is best if you cook it, because cooking makes it softer and tastier. Place soujuk sliced on pan and fry for only a few minutes, add cooking fat or oil, only if needed, as the fat content of soujuk is usually enough. Enjoy it fried with omelettes or sunny eggs, with tomatoes and tomato sauce, or wrapped in a pita with the spread of your choice. Can be also sliced on pizza for a spiced taste, or in tomato sauce for spaghetti.
